Took the boat out this afternoon and it ran great. Got home, hooked up the external flush and no water was exiting the per hole. Water was exiting around the pump intake and all other foot areas, but nothing up top. Any ideas?
You may have sucked some sand or mud in the intake. Take some weed eater line and push it up the pee hole until it stops. Bump it back and forth a few times. That “stop” is either an obstruction or your impeller.
Turn the water back on to the external flush and see if that does it. Do not run that motor for longer than a few minutes without it peeing, it will overheat.
Always keep some weed eater line or long flexible wire onboard for this.
I think it may be more than an obstruction. The line all the way back to the engine block is clear. No water is making it from the engine block to the last external flush to the pee hole. I hope this isn’t something major. It’s a 90 merc 2004 2 strk. Thanks for any input.
You may be able to remove the cowling and unhook that black rubber pee hose from the block and check it that way too. If that doesn’t do it, I would bring in the pros.
That’s what I did. Hose was clear. The issue is deeper, which scares me.
by external do you mean the little hose on the bottom of the motor or the earmuffs? With the earmuffs the engine has to be running to get water out the pee hole. With the little hose it should pee fine. put it backin the water and see what it does.

try flushing backward (pee hole in). I have had a similar issue and used the hose pipe to flush backward to dislodge any obstruction.
good luck
i bet you if you replaced the impeller/water pump it would pee again and everything would be fine.

I think the inards are foo bar. That’s my take on it.
