Flushing my 1997 90hp Honda

How/what do I hook up a garden hose to the flush port? I removed the round plastic cover, but can’t figure out how to hook up the quick-connect I bought at WestMarine.

Be careful running this engine with the flush kit or the ear muffs on the side. If the pump does not prime then the pump will not pull water. If the pump indicator (pee line) does not push out water then you are running the impeller dry and it will tear up. I have a 97 50HP and have gone through two impellers before discovering this. Now I flush in a barrel of fresh water. The flush is for when the motor is not running. I dont know how the quick connector fits on the bigger ones the 50’s have a screw in adapter.

garden hose should thread right onto the motor HOSE, not the fixed nipple attached to the motor

I have a '97 Honda 90hp. Honda makes a brass peice that cost $50 that goes between the motor and your hose. I tried all kinds of ways to keep from buying something that should have been provided with the motor but could not discover a cheap alternative due to the thread pattern. I bought one reluctantly. If anyone knows something that will work please post.

i have to agree with kidalong, but unfortunately, i dont know of an alternative, and I doubt one will be provided from honda, as the new motors have the built in flush port
