Fly Fishing for Reds in GTown

My Father in Law is going to be in Gtown for work for a couple of weeks and wants to go fly for Reds. He called me and asked me for some places to go but the problem is that I know less that nothing about Fly fishing or holes in Gtown. If anyone can give me a little bit of help for him on where to go I would greatly appreciate it.

Sent you an email with what little I know. Hopefully some of the area residents will weigh in. Might help to state whether he has a boat and what type.

I’ve caught a lot of redfish in Georgetown but have yet to figure them out on a fly. I did catch some rat reds one day in the winter that were schooled up but they would have bit anything that day so I’m not sure that counts. Curious to see what others will say though.

I have a 20’ grady he can use. Thanks for the info you already sent! That at meat gives me an idea.

Probably not going to be able to get where you need to to fly fish for Reds in your boat. If he really wants to catch some on the fly the best bet would be to go out with a guide who knows where they’ll be and can get in there with their boat. Two good ones at doing this are Fred Rourk or Tommy Scarborough. Pretty sure this past full moon weekend would have been a good time to do it.
