Fly Fishing Near Camden

Hey everyone, if have been reading these forums for a while and have learned a great deal of info. I am planning on going up to my girlfriends lakehouse on lake Wateree near Camden and was wondering if there are any creeks to wade that may produce some fish anywere near. I have seen some creeks while driving around but I dont know if they will produce. Any info is appreciated!

welcome to the forum. no boat on the lake? call the local dnr and ask them the specifics. generally they are extremely helpful. i dont think its cold enough or a trout stocking program there but there could be stripers in the river. grab one of those free fish/hunt mags and see what they say about the recent catches. a good place to start if nothing else. best of luck and let us know how ya did!

Camden is close to Columbia which the SAluda runs thru. It is a dangerous tailwater fishery but could be decent sometimes.

w/o a boat its pretty useless IMO on the Saluda. i grew up there. SCE&G owns the upper part and posted no tresspass. there is a small portion that is accessable, but in recent years has become overrun with people. there is also very little holdover as temps and stripers take their toll during the summer. but like rookiefly said, it can be decent. stockers and the rare solid brown eatin caddis and buggers. if i had the time, id try and hit the DH of the 'tooga, but thats a little mo drivin.

Thanks for all the help guys. It is a great start. Im going to investigate the saluda and will hopefully repost when I get back. Depending on how much time I have I may try the Chatooga. Would it be worth it to take the kayak?

Does it have to be trout?? The Wateree has striper and they are unreal on the long rod.
