Hey guys this is my first post on here and Fly Fishing has become my new obsession. I just got a #8 9’ Reddington 2pc with a Ross Reel and it seems to suit me well. Anyone have an informed opinion on this setup? I took the Fly Fishing class at Charleston Angler and i feel like i have a good starting point but i’m having trouble really getting my line out to the spots i want to. Any tips on changing out flies without tying a new on on your existing tippet? I have the leader tied on with a square knot so i can change them out but how do yall do it? Any tips for a beginner would be most welcome and i look forward to catching my first red on the Fly.
Loop to loop for changing leaders. I use a loop knot to connect the fly to the tippet 90% of the time. Flood tides monday through wednesday should be a killer time to catch your first red OTF. Good luck. Also, do yourself a favor and pick up Lefty’s fly fishing salt water-if fly fishing is your new obsession, consider this the old testiment portion of your bible.

Wow i just read a few reviews on this book and it looks like something i should be reading. Thanks alot for the tips and i will be picking a copy up today. A buddy of mine just got a boat so very soon it will be off to the flats. Please keeps the tips coming if anyone has the time. Thanks again.
