Are there any fly fishing opportunities along the Charleston jetties? I suppose it would be more blind casting, but just wondering if anyone here has success with it.
I’m having fun chasing shallow water reds but would like to try other things too.

If you could find a school of Bonita or Spanish mackerel feeding on the surface you better hold on tight.

But usaully you don’t see people "blind casting " in the jetties but that’s not saying it Couldn’t catch one.Your best bet would be riding around until you see birds diving , Bonita boiling the water , etc. and casting into the school.

How often do we get schools of Bonita around the jetties?
It seems the species most likely around jetties with flies would be Redfish, Flounder, Bluefish, Whiting, and perhaps a few others that stay inshore. Anythings possible if you’re there are the right time.
I’ve caught or have seen caught these species down around Pawleys, so makes sense they might be present at times in Charleston.
Of course, you could do a lot of blind casting with flies & never catch any of them, even if they are present.
In the heat of the summer you’ll find schools of Spanish, ladys, and blues in and around the harbor. For those, you need to strip faster than you think. Flashy fly and almost a two handed strip. Crazy fast fishing, but tons of fun.
If I get murdered in the city, don’t go revenging in my name…
