I’m researching kayaks for fishing and there seems to be a delimma.
Kayaks can travel were other boats cannot–but is there a kayak that will allow me to fly fish while standing? This would be the best of both worlds…
I’ve only had limitted experience w/ kayaks–but none that i’ve been on are stable when standing. I don’t believe i’ve travelled on a “fishing” (30"+) kayak though.
any thoughts?
Use the kayak to access the locations larger boats can’t. Then get out and wade.Flycast while seated.Both have worked for me.Good luck.
I stand and fly cast in an Ocean Kayak Drifter when it’s especially calm and I’m in shallow water. There’s too much pluff mud to get out and wade in most of my fishing locations. Casting while seated is also quite possible, especially since you can get pretty close to the fish and don’t need a lot of length in your casts.
