Fly line

So long story short I already had a chip in my flyline and today it got torn pretty bad. I have seen people tie take 50lb mono and connect it via surgeons knot and put a loop in the mono. Should I do it that way it should I try to make a loop in the flyline itself. I included a picture down below. Thanks

Heya,

I like having a super strong loop in the end of my fly line… I usually do this ,but whip finish the whole deal with some thread and coat that with pliobond .

I like a Whipped Loop. Couple Nail Knots, then whip over the top for a nice smooth finish. Convenient, fast to change leaders. You can also Nail Knot the leader straight to the end of the fly line for a small, simple, line-to-leader link.

I do a piece of mono with a perfection loop and nail knot it to the fly line. If you do it this way make sure you use a perfection loop.

Two whip finishes over the flyline loop. Dealer’s choice of super glues over the top.

Simple.

A long long slow walk in the spartina gives you time to think big thoughts and put your mind back into order.

get some 40 lb stiff mono and attach to your fly line with a nail knot, leave about 5 inches and put a loop in it for connecting to a leader

Don’t use these for salt water… they don’t hold up well… They work fine for fresh water stuff, but stick to either the whip finish loop, double nail knot loop, or the hard mono nail knot/perfection loop… any of those will work fine.
