since that other thread got a little off track with the swap, lets start over. Heres the polar shrimp i tied for the last swap:
Hook: #2 Gamagatsu saltwater
Thread: tan
Body: Pearl ice chenile
Eyes: burnt mono
Weight: bead chain
Antenna: Grizzly saddle hackles
Carapace: Tan craft fur with a small amound of flashbou
when tying the eyes on, split the difference of the eyes. heating up the bend in the mono of the eyes will make this a little easier to handle.
tie in the chenile on top and wind back to the eye and tie on the bead chain eyes
wrap chenile all the way up to the bead chain eyes.
theres the finished product just whip finish and put a drop of head cement or super glue.
What pound mono did you use to make the eyes? I used some 20# but it just isn’t big enough for salt patterns. Nice pattern bro. looks pretty shrimpy and easy to tie…

i think it may be 80 its much easier to get to ball up
i can tie these in about 5 minutes now. just remeber to tie the bead-chain eyes on the inside of the hook shank so the fly sinks right and the carapace lays down
strip…strip…FISH ON!
I typically use 40# for mono eyes. If you want the eyes even larger or a differant color, just color them and dip them in epoxy-they look great, but do take a little extra time.
