fly rod problems

does anyone else have problems getting the pieces of their rods to fit close together? if so, how do you get the pieces to fit all the way down, with some lubricant of some sort? I dont want to f*&% up my new rod

dont force it any further than it wants to go…it is more than likely only supposed to go that far! Before yuo put the pieces together rub the insert onto the corner of your nose…good lube to help the insert and removal!

What kind of rod?

If the rod has internal ferrules…there will be a little gap. This is normal. Do not force the pieces to close the gap…If you do your going to have a helluva time getting it apart and may damage the rod

the rod is a TFO w/ the little dots to line up. I was just under the assumption that the dots were supposed to “connect”

You want the dots to be inline with each other…But not touching.

Calibogue you bring back memories. My dad tought me that trick over fifty years ago. It works!

If you manage to connect the dots you will be dealing with a broken rod. The dots are only indicators to show you that the two pieces are lined up.

Not as good as nose grease, but a little chapstick works as well.

The wax from a birthday candle works well and is easy to carry with you. Just rub the candle on the male ferrule.
