The most succesful ones I do with other forum is for each person to tie one pattern and then mail to someone that distrubutes, Capt Fritz?, too many flies too many meeting places and it starts to fall apart but that is just my 2 cents
Thats pretty much what I was going for but the elitist took over and whats to tie 3 patterns 4 different ways with each person tieing 55 flies…I’m confused easily in my old age so I wanted to keep it simple. Tie maybe 10 or 12 flies and exchange them…thats all

I agree,I would rather tie 1 pattern. It would be easier for all of us that way.I’ll tie my shrimp pattern. So whats the count?
Lets dont complicate it! Each person tie their variation of a shrimp pattern or crab etc. That seems easy and allows for some personal variety and expression on each ones behalf. Next time around, we can change the from shrimp to crab or to baitfish, etc. I am for meeting up if that’s what everyone wants to do, but maybe to make the swap. I am in Beaufort now so would like to limit my trips to the Holy City if possible.
OK, I think the original idea of one fly per person is easiest. I’m in with a tan/gold rattle shrimp that Bramblett or Alderman showed me many years ago when they worked at ludens. A meet would be great for those of us who could make it on a said date.
i used to be in mgt. let me organize and delegat -
everyone tie one fly that you like for bass or trout.
if you want to tie others and share, or pre-arrange a swap with someone else that wants to tie more patters also - it’s called PM, work that out between yourselves.
if you just want to tie some extras and distribute them, that would be cool. remember you are obligated to one pattern only.
it’s fritzes post so he is the organizer, period. he will pick the super secret pre-arranged swapping place here in mt pleasant and notify us by posting it here. if you can’t make the swap, then mail you schitt to fritz and he will return your share of everyone elses flies.
now pick a date - or should i do that too?
Fritz, Sorry if I was steppin on your toes but i was just throwin some ideas out there… ill tie whatever whenever…
One pattern sounds good to me… Ill tie a shrimp pattern i made up…
Elitist??? thats a little harsh man I was just tryin to help. but now ive said my peace so just tell me how you want the swap, by mail or in person?

So will everyone tie a variation of a shrimp pattern and how many?
Count me, in I’ll try to do something different from any one else. Just tell me how many to make and I’ll make them.
Time Flys when your catching fish.
im in, but would much prefer a variation on the flies, rather than say getting 12 different colored clousers. Clousers are generic flies, and it’d be much neater to see some more unique patterns. the whole point of a fly swap in my opinion is getting to see some variation and creativity. im up for it though, and as there seems to be quite a few shrimp patterns already mentioned, i’ll tie up some redfish toads for the winter mud flats.

Signup will be by wednesday at noon. Everyone tie their favorite. Include what are you tying when you signup. Seperate thread for that will be started soon. Once we have everyone included we will know how many flies to tie. Thanks for all the interest…

Originally posted by Mad_Mikeyeah half of my materials come from craft shops and just stuff i find on the floor or behind the fridge:stuck_out_tongue: I think we should probably start maybe a vote for what types of patterns we should tie… how bout this
1- clouser minnow variation (your favorite color, or style)
1- shrimp immitation
1- wild card (something you innovated, or tweaked that is uniquely yours)if anyone else has a suggestion please speak up, or just throw a yes or no vote… also fritz i would only presume that you have the ultimate vote, or veto since this is your swap… what say ye lets get this thing rolling so i can start tying.

FlyredsAnd With me makes 9 people so far. if we tie one pattern that will be 8 flies per person, if we decide to multiples say 3 it would be 24 per person and each person would get 24 flies in return… but its up to yall.
Did i leave anyone out?
Also i vote for meeting up, it will be a good excuse to get a good community of tyers together… a rare thing in charleston.

You are being dragged over the coals because you showed interest and even wanted everyone to tie 3 flies. You work at a frigging flyshop for crying out loud. How much time do you need to tie a dozen flies? This thing started in early december. It will be March before we know it. Would 6 months have been enough time for you? Bite your tongue all you want, I dont like to keep things bottled up so I call it like I see it! Tight loops to you. Way to represent the Angler. Adam would never have acted like that!

Fritz, email an address and how much return postage so I can put these flies in the mail.
Thanks for those that have picked up the slack of others. I think we might have our 12 people. To those that showed interest and committed to this but didnt produce,
