im new to the fly fishing scene, and recently visited the shallow water fishing expo. i visited a man and he helped me tie my first fly. my question to ya’ll is, #1 the peice of equipment they used to hold the hook in place ( i forgot the name) is it a must have to tying flies? Also is it enjoyable tying your flies. i would imagine so but… and last what type of fly/pattern are the red’s hitting right now? all help is appreciated.
