Looks good man, trim down on your thread wraps (not necessary to catch fish) and definetly a good first go, and you will find out even ugly flies catch fish. Where is the link Nikon ??

One of my favorite flats flies mirrors the fly you tied, I add Copper Flash and some Black Super hair, shiny silver eyes … Good to go

Good luck with your tying

  2. that thing you get just moments after you needed it.

Thank you once I get home I’ll try again but what would you recommend I put on first second third ect.?

Looking good for your first rodeo, less is more with thread wraps. I don’t know what size thread you use but I even tie a lot of my saltwater flies on 6/0 now when i used to only use 3/0. Note: 6/0 is thinner than 3/0

Nice first go at a Razmataz… And you guys can leave him alone on the thread wrap thing… thats red chenille on the head, its part of the pattern. I would start my pattern a little further up the shank… with a wide gap hook like that you want to start and tie the pattern on the flat part of the shank… try not to drift down in the the bend of the hook. Also try to bunch your superhair tail a little better so that it won’t be all flaired out. A black sharpie will allow you to barr that tail and give it a little something extra.

Overall though, a nice first attempt at properly recreating a proven pattern…

I think I know who you are, and i’m pretty sure I told you this in the shop, but i’ll regurgitate it for the masses… when getting started in tying you are much better off picking a pattern that you fish, or one you want to tie… buying the materials for that specific pattern and tying it until you get it right… then move on to another pattern. This teaches you alot about material manipulation and techniques, while at the same time building your stock of tying materials…

I wouldnt venture off trying to make stuff up until you get some of the basics down, otherwise your just wasting materials…
