I am trying to set up a trip to Cherokee Sound on Abaco Isle. I am going to be chasing Bones and I have no idea about the flies that work down there?? I want to tie a bunch of flies but would also like to buy a bunch as well. Since i don’t know what works I don’t know what to tie?? Anyone ever fish down there, and know where to buy flies for the trip?? Thanks

I’ll take a pic of some flies I have caught fish on down there and post tomorrow.
Smaller critter patterns mostly Shrimp & Crab patterns will get ya bit! I’s tie up mostly 4’s & 6’s but I’d have a few 2’s & 8’s in my box just in case you need to scale up or down. In addition, don’t be afraid to play around with different weighting on the same style and size fly. If you get on some deeper fish you’ll need the additional weight so going to a small or medium size dumb bell style weight will help you seal the deal, just keep in mind that if the fish are up in the really skinny stuff, weightless, small and maybe medium bead chain would be my first choice. As for color, since you’ll be fishing a lot of light colored bottom and maybe some grass or groves, I’d go with the traditional lighter colored natural colors like tan or olive however I’d also tie up a few dark tones in dark brown, dark olive and maybe a chartreuse, pink, orange or red. You can also take fish on Clousers in the same natural color patterns as well as several of the warmer colors like Chartresue & Whtie, Pink & White or Tan & White, just make sure that you tie some up in the smaller size and lighter weights in the 2, 4 & 6 range. Puffs, Charles, Gotchas, Spawning Shrimp, Sliders and Smaller Merkins or Toads will all get you bit just don’t go quite as large as you would down if you were fishing the Keys. Typically these fish aren’t too picky if you can get the fly in front of the fish without spooking them you are going to get bit.
