flyrod holder while wading

How do you guys hold your flyrod while wading , as in when removing a catch etc.
A friend of mine has a patent on a device that would make you hands free . I see lots of pics with the flyrod in your mouth , which can’t be good for you . Any interest ?

I just tuck it under my arm or stick it in a pocket… ya got pix?

Stick it in the water. and wash it off afterwards.

This invention sounds …
But it can’t be any worse than a cork sucker.

Well sorry folks that I posted this . The owner of the device asked me to get some sales on this but after talking to him he wants to wait until they send him his first order of said product . It really is a cool ideal which works on many things.

well if he ever gets it done post up some pix, I’d like to at least see what he has… I am with Flatscaster, but lookin never hurts…

Agreed. I said the same thing the first time I saw a buff.

just kidding about the laying the reel in the water part, that’s bad for it. What I like to do is spear the rod tip down into the mud like a javelin while I detach the fish. I fish a fast rod so it’s stiff enough that the reel never bends all the way down to the water. keeps the reel dry and the grips are conveniently located at belt height for easy gripping after the release.

I saw Lefty do that at a flyfishing expo once.

A long long slow walk in the spartina gives you time to think big thoughts and put your mind back into order.
