I just noticed I can’t hunt most of game zone 6 with a rifle until October 1st. I started really late last year so it didn’t matter. Does anyone know why they start so late?

thats only on public land. on private land you can use rifle starting the 15th of this month. i dont know why they do it that way for public land, but almost every state does it that way. even on private land. i believe the upstate is that way for private. i cant think of any reason they do it, maybe to help make the public land safer?
