i’ve heard of people “filling the hull w foam.” anyone recommend doing this? i presume the goal is to make the boat unsinkable, but are there other benefits? what are some cons? cost? add weight to the boat? curious if anyone has a take on this.
Adds strength and floatation in some cases. But better left to the professionals. Use the wrong weight foam and it becomes a big wet sponge. And no the goal is not to make the boat “unsinkable”
I’d also worry that it would limit access to the hull if needed.
I believe that I’d leave my boat the way that it was designed by professionals.

I know that Edgewater boats are all filled with foam. They claim that they are unsinkable. Havent had the guts to test that one yet but I dont see where you can go wrong filling your boat with foam.

In the bow of my boat I have two large fish boxes…I guess they’re called fish boxes or storage boxes. They have drains in them but they don’t have foam around them. I’d like to make them into two large fish coolers.
Is there someone around that sprays insulation foam…? I’d have to cut a couple access holes to get the hose in and around them…the access holes could be on the inside of the fish boxes\coolers where they’d be out of sight. I could work around the bow light wiring - the only other thing up there is the anchor storage box.
Anyone ever made an insulated cooler out of a built-in fish box \ storage box…? I guess you could just use a fish bag but I’d rather have the two big coolers.
