Fog Scare & Skunked

Thought I would try to fish the Jetties yesterday.
That was a big mistake!
It’s been years since I have navigated in fog; I had forgotten how deceptive that stuff can be!
Didn’t look to bad when I went in, could see the South Jetty just fine, but then the fog came down with a vengeance.
Pea soup; heard the dreaded blast of a large ship’s foghorn and turned away immediately.
Shortly thereafter, a huge Navy transport vessel loomed out of the mist.
Decided it was time to fish the creeks.

No luck; guess to water is too cold.

BTY - Does anyone know what that large, strange looking orange colored Dutch vessel anchored in the channel does for a living?

article in the paper this morning mentioned a semi-submersible ship in the harbor near Sullivan’s…doing some training exercises…could be it…
and I hear ya on fishing the jetties in the fog…that can be very un-nerving…

I had to come back in the stono using the GPS on Saturday. No fun, for sure.
