My man and I decided to head down to Folley Beach tomorrow and I was wondering what could I catch off the pier there and what bait etc to use. We are die-hard catfishermen, but we use big gear. Most of our reels are Penn 3/0 plus we have quite a few Seaboys, 209’s, 309’s, 2/0 you name it. My man sells, repairs and services Penn’s so we have some heavy weight reels if needed. There is also a launch nearby with a pier across the road, anything there worth fishing for?
Thanx ahead of time
depends on your boat, i can show you a hole thats 64 feet deep 200 yds from the shoreline (they call this the shark hole) its in hilton head easy to get to. plenty of sharks 3 feet and up. alot of catch and release, i work in sumter if you and your husband wont to go there. let me know.

Kitty,
First I might add that you may want to post this question on the discussion board. This forum is for reports and some of the guys may give you a hard time.
Since there is no response to your question, I will try to help you a little by stating that there isnt much you can expect to catch on the pier. At the end, where the water is the deepest, you may try your luck at catching a king. As for the surf you can usually catch some whiting and an occasional shark or trout. There use to be some descent fishing around all of the reef balls that were placed around the pier, but the tide and current has covered most of the structure up with sand. As for bait, just plain old cut shrimp will do.
As for the bridge, you may catch a sheephead or two with fiddlers if you can get near the pilings. There are some spottail and trout that swim up and down the marshbank but I have never fished around the dock that you are referring to. If you live here in charleston and want to catch fish your best bet is to take a boat or go with someone that has one. There is a match-up forum on this site that people use to locate a ride. Good luck!

Don’t fret. Charleston has some real know it all internet fishermen. 23 Sailfish and his goons can run a post into the ground with 7 or 8 pages of B.S. three weeks after the fish post but lord have mercy if you post a question. I’ll be at the Sand-dollar tonight 23 head case if want to chat about it.
You are only as good as the conference you play in. i dictate and no proof read
