Head out this morning around 6:00. Went to the beach to surf fish near the cul-de-sac on Arctic. The current was crazy. I was using a 3 oz pyramid and it was dragging it to the right. So I went to the pier. Caught a few small weakfish and this Ray. He was a fighter… Very fun.
I added my shoe to shoe the size…
One of my rods wont lock anymore. Like when I cast it and start reeling in to lock the arm in place, I can pull the line out with the reel going in reverse… If that makes sense. I have tried it with the on/off switch in both positions. Any idea?
That is a nice cow nose ray. Those things fight really hard. Your reel problem sounds like a broken anti-reverse gear. When this happens to mine I just take it to Haddrel’s and they stick a repair tag on it. Next week you can pick it up and it will be like new.

And agreed, it sounds like your antireverse might be malfunctioning.

agree w/ Redfish matt, definitely does not look like a cow nose ray to me.

A lot of times if you just take them apart (slowly… methodically… lay parts in a row so you know the order), clean them, and put them back together then they’ll go back to normal. does sound like there might be something not catching though if your antireverse isn’t working. again though, by taking it apart then you can probably fix it pretty easy. also, go online and look up the manual for that real. a lot of times there will even be youtube videos on how to do it/fix it (sooo surprising how many people youtube “how to” videos that you never thought someone would take the time to do!)
