folly bridge plans

Curious if anyone knows what the plans are for the pilings that supported the old folly river bridge. At the rate they were doing deconstruction the pilings may already be gone (haven’t been there in a few weeks). Those pilings served as a relatively productive fishing spot for me and was hoping at least some were going to be left in place.

They are to be placed around the Morris Island Light House for erosion protection.

no, the permits were denied…Big Bonzo and others fought long and hard for this, but they (forget whether DHEC, OCRM or the Corps) said that there was no “need” for this and it would create more unnecessary issues than would do good…they will probably just be hauled away and crushed and recycled where possible…

Actually, Save the Light got the permit from OCRM.
