So I havent posted much since we moved up to ridgeway…Anyway I am taking the family to Folly for the week(next). we rented a house on the 1600 block of east ashley ave and it has a dock on a tidal creek. I am bringing my new boat(1860 kencraft bayrider skiff). I know there is probably not enough water to dock on this creek but I am looking for what my best options are for the wife and kids(4 year old twins)? I have a day pot for crabs I plan to throw out at high tide. I also plan to put in at the folly landing and do some short inshore trips close by. Any good ideas for fishing places out that way? I never fished that area when we lived in charleston but I imagine I need mud minnows, carolina rigs, some jig heads, maybe fiddlers? Any suggestions are very much appreciated.

if you are looking to put the 4 year olds on fish, there are plenty of shark and bonnethead out there this time of year. Crabs and cut bait work well and I’ve never met a kid who didn’t like catching a shark.
Mud minnows next to structure and right up next to the grass work for reds and flounder.

How about a 45 year-old kid??? I did a bonnethead trip with a guide a couple of years ago on the Charleston Harbor and it was really fun fishing.
Thanks to all who responded to this thread. I too want to head down to the Folly River area to attempt to catch some bonnettheads. I have a 19 foot Carolina Skiff, and the river / inlet fishing is better suited for my boat and level of comfort. I mainly fish for trophy catfish in freshwater, so this type of fishing is more suited for my skill set.
Thanks for the reply! I am sure we will have a great time even if the fish cooler is empty! Beer one is always on full!
