Fished the Folly Rd draw bridge today from around 3 to 7pm. Got a lot of bites but didn’t catch a thing. Flipper was there. Anybody fished here before?

a lot of bites but no fish = a better day than sitting home watching T.V.

Do you think the lots of bites could have been crabs? If flipper was there, your chance on fish went from ok to not so ok. Seems flipper likes what you are targeting and they(fish) seem to run from flipper.

What were you fishing with? For? Where? On the marshgrass bank, pilings or the riprap(rock/shell) bank? With what rigs? I always thought that with a good sheepshead rig and some live shrimp fiddler crabs or mussels at a higher tide, along the bank you could pull up some sheepshead…

I fished with shrimp, squid, and clams. I fished with a 1/0 circle hook, 6" leader, and half oz egg sinker. Wasn’t really targeting anything in particular, just wanted to get out of the house. I fished under the bridge with the heavier rain for a while until it lightened up enough to get out from under it. Seems flipper stayed under that bridge. Was literally circling it, which is why I didn’t stay around it. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t crabs. More than likely pin fish…bump and slacken the line up. I threw up the marshgrass a few times but nothing. Waters seemed very deep 50ft or so out.
Tomorrow after the AM showers I’m headed to the MtP pier for sheepshead for sure.
Same rig. Change to a 1 or 1/0 mosquito hook. Live shrimp, fresh shellfish and live crabs. Probably some small sheepshead. Not a whole lot of trash fish in the rivers now.
