I’m visiting Folly beach for the week and was wondering if anyone is having any luck in the Folly River? what’s being caught, what kind of bait, what areas, time of day, etc.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Shrimp and mudminnows under a cork fish creek mouths and over oyster beds or along shell strewn points if you are coming on a Sat just go out at low and look around the will be plenty of others.
Flounder, trout, reds on shrimp, FM, MM. Caught all 3 Sunday AM in 1hr. All 3 were at 2 docks. Do you have a boat?
RG get to Folly early otherwise it will take you 2 hours to put your boat in …
Bragging may not bring happiness,
but no man having caught a large fish,
goes home through the alley.

Yes, I have a boat. Are there local places to buy mudminnows or you have to catch them? What is FM? What tides work best? Did you fish them under a cork or how?
Thanks for any help!!
I think Haddrell’s in South Windermere has mud minnows for sale. FM is finger mullet. You can buy frozen FM at Crosby’s on Folly Road.Your best bet is to use a chunk of frozen FM near and under docks and other structure. I rarely use corks. The best time to fish is on a falling tide, and either side of dead low tide.
Crosby’s will also have live mud minnows and shrimp (and closer, if you’re staying on/near Folly). 3.99 - 4.99 dozen usually. If you get both, you may want to keep in separate buckets, if feasible. The MMs tend to beat up the shrimp.
RG, if you can throw a cast net and set a Mud Minnow trap, bait is plentiful on Folly
