Went with a buddy from around 5pm to 8pm. Low tide was at 6. The plan was to go down and hit the Stono inlet and head up the Stono a little to try for some shark. It was a little rough down Folly so we hit the first creek to the right. First stop only a big ray. Next stop, another ray. Then this is were the story gets a little funny. Decided to make one more stop, so i nosed the boat into a mud bank right off the river. Then we saw it. a nice size bonnet head swimming right to us on the shallow bank. After the slow first 2 hours we both got a little excited. We both walked to the front of the boat to cast in front of him. As soon as we cast, something loosened the anchor and we quickly started drifting to the middle of the river and by the time we got back close to the bank the bonnet had swam past. Perfect time for the anchor fail. We called it a day when after that all we got was a baby shark and a whiting. We laughed about the bonnet head all the way back to the landing. Just our luck. Got a few pictures that I will add later.

Yeah that’s how it goes sometimes. Sounds like it’s really time for a bigger anchor, will make your trips a lot less frustrating.
Keep at it, you’ll find the trick. I do better with sharks as the summer progresses anyhow.

I heard that RAY meat is supposedly excellent shark bait
It is. I’ve already got 2 in the freezer so he got to swim free.
