The channel has change a lot since last year.
Be careful 3 boats beached on sand bars or churning
up mud near low tide.
it sure has, the big bars between the park and bird key are very different.
the long “doggie paradise” sandbar mid-river in front of sunset is coming back, watched a boat hit it full speed earlier this week… lucky for him it was just after the minus tide!
Thanks for the heads up, haven’t been through there since about September or October and seemed to be shifting/changed then. Will use the slow, braille method next time through there!
Myself and a small whaler skiff were both churning mud during low tide on Sunday. Neither of our boats drafts over10-12". He was in the channel and I tried to go slightly outside the cans to find deeper water. Shallow, shallow everywhere. This is between the green cans across from sunset cay marina. Gets real shallow again past bird key. Watched a commercial boat try to come through there. They gave up and just sat in the inlet to wait on rising water.
I’ll be heading down there to fish in the coming weeks. Would anyone mind drawing where the sandbar is stretched across on a map for all of us to get a better idea of its location. Big thanks!
Its right across from Sunset Cay Marina. Just go slow at low tide and watch your depth finder. Oh, and stay in the channel…youll be fine
