Hello Hunters, need some help here. Due to some unforeseen circumstances I’m looking to plant some late food plots. I was able to disc last Saturday and plan on seeding 8/24 weather permitting.
Lowes take home kit said pH was 6.0. I am waiting on my results to come back from Clemson.
Looking for recommendations for a quick bang for our efforts.
What salty said. Add some turnip and rape. What size plots you planting? On our turnips the deer really didn’t eat them until Late season into January/ February. They’ll paw up the roots when other food sources are scarce.
Thanks. So far it’s about an acre total on a three spots (1/3 each-ish). I am going to try to get there again to do two more with the disc, each one will be about a quarter acre. Called the local shop, they have cow peas but no winter peas.
Still plenty of time for clay/iron peas but I’d get a cheap electric charger and run some wire up till they got up a little size If you only had one deer around it would take out an acre of a young stand in two nights. Might pick up a bag of soybeans, would be cheaper than clay peas.
