Shrimp is a prize to be had by those who took the time and effort to learn how to cast a net. All others can purchase Asian shrimp in a bag at Walmart ![]()
Who needs a Frisbee…just practice a little…![]()

That was a perfect net throw!![]()
Thanks…and not a fluke…a throw from a different angle.
If only the shrimp had been there…other than the popcorn shrimp I mean…![]()

Nice throw! How big is that net:question:
That one is 8. I would have used a 10 I had on board if I’d known how cool the slow motion looked…![]()
8 is our standard unless we’re really getting shrimp and then we will break out the 10…either deep holing or baiting.
Man, what a throw and into the wind too! Shouldn’t take long to fill a cooler.
How about a slo-mo of loading that cuz it’s perfect??
I’ll see if I can get that. A buddy that just happened to be going by took the vids. Straight forward standard throw…1/2 the weights in each hand…hook the lead line with pinky to pull back on the close side. You can see in the first throw I had too much of the weight in my right hand…I just adjusted and threw that side out a bit more. Both those were actually with the wind…it’s tough to throw a taped net into the wind.
Note the deck I built for the bow. We built similar decks for the two other boats (friends) that we use for shrimping.
It really makes working with the net easy…no trying to clear the gunnel from the bow deck, no heaving over a bow rail,
and no marking up the gel coat. My first one was just made out of treated ply and lasted years, but our new models are glassed
and painted with non-skid.
