Well I didn’t think I was doing anything wrong. Sorry if it bothers you. I was just trying to get the word out. Is my post really crowding up this subject to where you cant do what you want to do on here…?
If I knew how to delete this post I would because I don’t want to rub anyone the wrong way.
No big deal, it just turns people off from reading the forums amd contributing if there are seven identical posts in different topic sections pushing fishing gear to buy. It takes away from the validity of the site as a learning tool for those interested in fishing and turns it into an online store.
There’s a place to sell stuff here, its in the classifieds section. That’s where the fine people that created this site for us to use and enjoy and learn, want you to put your gear for sale. That’s all.
No problem. My thought was… what a better place to post the ad than on the off shore guys who use these types of rods/reels and I was trying to give someone out there an awesome deal. My apologies…!

No, I don’t have problem with anyone putting something on here that they are selling, it just gets old when people like this post the same exact topic 7 or 8 times in different sections. It degrades the site and runs people off; that’s my belief.
There’s two places for it basically, the classifieds and the swap shop topic section.
I don’t have a problem with people promoting stuff in their signatures. That’s never been an issue. I would much rather read a fishing report and then look at that person’s signature line and say “oh, this person knows what he’s doing and supports RFA, I think I’ll check that out.” Or I’ll look at some crazy post and look at that guy’s signature and say, “hmmm, this guy is clearly out of his gord, whatever he supports is probably not for me” and go on about my business.
TooBusy is a perfect example of this. He charters. He posts fishing reports with detailed and valuable and usually very entertaining stories about fishing, fishing gear, techniques. I enjoy reading his posts always. It doesn’t bother me that he has a link in his signature for his business. I support him. I don’t know if he advertises on CF or not, but I support him because he gives to the site. He loves this site and supports it with his reports. That’s what I know and that’s enough for me.
That makes much more sense to me.

Don’t get me wrong Ricky, it’s not about your signature link whatsoever, those are great photos you take for sure and enjoy looking at them. It’s just that the “rules” should apply more fairly to all.

It’s not even winter yet and this is how people are acting. Shrimp season just started(for some people) and yall should get out on the water and take advantage of the cooler weather.
Thank god we have the internet police around here to take care of these pesky threads that “run people off from the website”…I wonder how many people actually left this site after seeing someone trying to sell something in a thread. I bet they probably just didn’t click on it if they were not interested.
