i would like information on fishing at Fort Fisher. When is the best time to go and what would i fish for? can you fish from the shore or is there limited access . i have been told you can fish from a rock wall . any information would be a big help ,
thanks for the help
petewv Haven’t fished FF for years but it used to be good along
the rocks as we called it. good fishing for the normal bottom dwellers, parking I have heard has gotten a little harder, there is a museum not far from beach with large parking lot but not sure if the will allow parking for beach use or not.
The wall you’re hearing about is at end of road at FF- Southport
ferry , be careful and don’t venture to far out on wall at low tide,
water will cross wall at places on rising tide!! Rig with shrimp or and cut mullet!!!
Good luck and catch um up…
I grew up there in Carolina Beach. By foot, you can fish the rock wall at Fort Fisher. Go out at low tide and look for holes in the wall where current flows through. Use bottom rigs with cut bait or live bait. You may also try some fiddler crabs for sheepshead. Be careful not to get stuck out there as the tide rises. There is also a ramp there where you can launch small skiffs or kayaks.
