So I’m looking forward to a nice fall and winter of diving and tuna fishing and it’s time to buy new foul weather gear. All of my current gear is crap and the zippers are rusted or never were water tight and it leaks down my back whenever I try and enjoy a bean bag. Do any of you have any solid recommendations? I’m mainly interested in a good pair of bibs since I have plenty of jackets that can keep my shoulders dry. I’m thinking maybe something that’s mostly rubberized so that fish guts won’t ruin it on the first trip.
I can’t really vouch as I’ve not owned a set…yet, but those who seem to be in the know all wear Grunden’s.

Yes. For our weather get the lighter weight.
big dog
CoFish bibs are pretty nice too, I go through about a pair every two-three years if fishing hard. I rarely take them off unless its the dead middle of the summer. In the winter, put on a pair of canvas pants and go to it.
Grunden’s for sure
Whichever brand comes with a cool sticker.

If you’re lucky enough to be fishing, you’re lucky enough.
I have a set of the West Marine Third Reef FWG that I used for a couple years down in FL and they worked well. The jacket always kept me dry and had velcro on the wrists to tighten which was a big thing for me. When I came up here to AK, I brought the West Marina jacket and bought some Grundens Clipper bibs. I wear the bibs everyday and am a big fan. PVC really is the only thing that will keep you dry in long periods of rain and spray. The jacket eventually got to the point that it will soak through after sitting in the rain all day so I replaced it with a Carhartt PVC rain jacket. The jacket is heavy duty and will keep the rain out for sure. It’s cheaper than the Grundens and even has neoprene wrists to keep your arms dry, which I like. They do run a size large as the XL is way too big for me. I’m going to pick up a L eventually and it will be my go to jacket for foul weather.
PVC>everything else
Grundens hercules around $100- i wouldn’t consider getting any bib other than those- “maybe” there is something better but for $100 those bibs are nearly bullet proof…
I’ve got a $20 bass pro rainsuit that I’ve had for almost 10 years that has been pretty badassed. Just put some suspender spraps on the pants and good to go. They don’t breath tho so it has to be almost chilly for them to be comfortable.
10/4 on the BPS suit, I’ve had one for years and haven’t had a leak yet!
use mine at least twice a week in the winter. They are costly but well worth it! Almost as good as duct tape!!!
Helly Hansen is top quality too. Like grundens
Grudens or something else without zippers…zippers and saltwater don’t mix. At least in my experience.
