Possible world record snake head fish. Not exactly the world record that I would be looking for.

I hope they don’t show up here, but it might be inevitable.

I believe one was caught in Lake Wylie a year or so ago. I’ve also heard reports of a few more that have showed up in S.C. ? No doubt something we don’t need!!!

nasty creature. I read an article the other day cautioning people about eating swordfish because of high mercury levels, and the author went on to suggest snakehead fish as a subtitute because its meat has similar taste and texture. First, I say NASTY. Second, I do not believe that is true, and the “expert” author is just talking out of their ass. Third, the last thing we need is to create consumer demand for snakehead. Good lord.
Keep it Awesome!!!
A consumer demand for snakehead would be a very good thing— imagine if there were a consumer demand for pinfish or toadfish.

From all accounts that I have heard is that Snakeheads are delicious. I think that if people will eat monkfish (which is delicious) they will eat a Snakehead. Probably take a creative marketing name like Chilean sea bass instead of toothfish.

I have contemplated a trip to Virginia specifically to catch a few snakeheads, specifically to eat them. I will do this if I can find someone willing to split the gas cost.

There it is. They seem like an Asian version of our mudfish.
Go to Vietnam and you’ll find that a snakehead to them would be like wahoo to us.
Cracker, you ever ate any pin fish? When I was living in Panama City I used to catch em all the time off the dock and mom would always fry them up for me. A little oily and strong, but very good.
Don’t they have snakehead in S. Florida along with the peacocks and Mayan cichlids? Would be too cool to catch a few but I’d hate to have them here

Heck yeah, we grew up poor in Thunderbolt, GA and ate everything that bit a hook. What we didn’t eat, we sold. Pinfish aren’t bad at all, just a little bony. Today I prefer them for bait though
