Thursday night was the kickoff of freedom week, wife and kids are officially gone till next Saturday. I decided to do one thread for all my reports since I will probably fish most days.
Report 1
Went with Steeverino last night after work. Got on the water about 5:30 with a 10 to 15 mph NW wind and clear skies. Water temps ranged from 54 near the launch to 51 out on the big water. Went back in Jakes and pulled freelines, planers and down rods. Caught 2 shorts and a 22" keeper. Wind died at sunset and we hit the big water not to far west of the towers. Marked lots of fish and bait. We caught 7 more keepers and maybe 15 to 20 shorts. No keepers over 22". Looked like they were pulling water pretty good.
Not sure if I will go tonight or get out early tomorrow. I can’t seem to be able to just go out and get home at a reasonable time. Just can’t seem to leave fish that are biting no matter what time it is.
Edited to add full moon, seem to have good luck night fishing full moons.
Jeremy, I have a 15 gal tank you can use if you want to fish some live bait.
Tom, I would stay down here and fish while my wife took my sons up north when they were kids. I can give you some references if you need the house cleaned before they get back.
Fished today from 3-7. Really beautiful day. Action was pretty constant. 3 doubles to go along with too many singles to count. Mostly shorts 3 keepers in the boat 22-24". Lost another at the boat, was an easy 8-9#.
Poor Bubba didn’t like seeing that one get away…lol… he does real good but he just isn’t quite big enough to weave the bigger fish through a 12 rod spread, but he is getting there.
All fish caught over deep water 80’+. None on DR 1 on FL rest on PB. All between the dam and Spence. Hoping to get out tomorrow afternoon.
Lol…took the tubes out to show Seth how they work and are set up in the boat. Youngin has his bday party next tx weekend, so my team will be fishing w/o me.
Had a good day myself! Lots of 6-8 pounders. Caught a couple in a shallow cove, but most came over a creek channel in 25+ with planers and cork. I was fishing waaay uplake from y’all . The fish are scattered right now from Kempson’s all the way to Dreher Shoals!
Saturday wasn’t too good for me either. went early and got a short and a large mouth. One short at night. Water was up to 55-56 and the fish seemed to have moved. Might have to try going up I guess. Thought it would bee too muddy up there
Fished with fishhard247 and we did quite well sat afternoon. Prob had 15 or more from 2-5. Most were keeps ranging from 21-26" with only 4-5 shorts. All fish released. Fished the same area as Fri.
Forgot to add I blew out a hub on my way home so I couldn’t fish yesterday and I have to fix it today since no parts available yesterday. It was nice relaxing at home without being told to do anything or having to clean up anything
Went out yesterday at 5:30. No fish at the towers, mouth of jakes, triangle (steve’s house) very few at beaverdam. Fished in beaverdam till sunset with one hit. Left for the towers. Not many fish on the open lake side, but we started marking fish at 100’ of water closer to the dam. Caught 6 fish between 9:00 and 11:00. Three solid keepers 24, 24, 23. Water was 61* when we left the dock but dropped down to 57* after the sun went down. 60* seems to be the magic number for getting bait in the lights, which improves night fishing.
Got bait from Lake World, some beautiful herring, big and feisty.
