Anyone ever took this excursion from Carnival? Taking a short trip w/ wife from Jacksonville to Freeport and Nassau. I would like to do some fishing as an excursion but can’t find many reviews. I don’t want to do a private charter just for the fact if you broke down, good chance that Carnival is sailing without you. Thanks to anyone with info. We are cruising this Thursday the 12/15/11-12/19/11.
took one for my senoir trip in high school didnt do any fishin just got hammered lol (from what i can remember) we really werent there long enough to fish, mabey a half day idk tho u might be doin a diff one than me.

Get me some #'s man! I’m planning on taking the boat over there the next time we get a good weather window.
If you know how to get them from an iPhone I will. Could always attempt to bring the handheld Garmin. Not sure they would notice but do I wanna find out in a foreign land?? The boat they take you out on looks to be maybe a 50’ Party Boat style boat. From the few pics I’ve seen you can see land so maybe 3 miles off at max. I think I read a post where it registered $142/pp. That’s steep for a 4.5 hour excursion. I may try it. I saw 4 reviews that the people loved it but all said they couldn’t keep catch from sharks. I’m not trying to bring home fish, just wanna catch some but (**() if all I’m gonna catch is a grunt and a mingo I can do that with a cane pole and bream off the dock on Murray. But then again, Have any of you seen me catch much more than that in my previous posts?

If you’re ANY BIT familiar with bottom fishing, DO NOT take this charter. It’s all reef there so they ride out a bit, look down, drop anchor. 1 or 2 fish may be caught amongst entire boat. They pick up and move. Same thing. Over and Over and Over. I caught my 1 lone grunt as they were pulling anchor for last time to go in. Just casted out as far as possible and slowly reeled in over reef. They use 1/2 oz egg weights tied on at different places on different rods for their weights. They use 1 or 2 at a time. Needless to say on 30-40lb test it doesn’t necessarily stay on bottom well.
Here are some of the pictures. Very beautiful place but not a good charter system for the excursions. The picture of the fish is the ENTIRE DAYS catch for the whole boat!! (roughly 20-25 ppl)
