We go out of Georgetown every year with customers on the Frenzy, and got convinced to try the sister boat in Costa. Went two weeks ago to incredible sailfishin : Day 1 (3) yellowfin (3) Mahi (3) sails / Day 2 raised 27 and released 15 and one Blue / Day 3 raised 16 and released 12.
yeah, all those fish came from Guatemala! We fished Guat last 8 days and fishing was the slowest they had seen since my captain started fishing there. We had some other friends fishing Guat the first week in Feb and did great releasing 60 out of 90 sailfish bites and one 500 pound blue but fished in very rough water. Apparently a huge Norte blew through and blew all the good water and sailfish to Costa Rica. We fished seven days on two boats after my buddies had went home and only had 15 sails and 3 blues in the baits. We landed 2 sails and a 350 pound blue plus many dolphin up to 36 pounds. Those posted numbers from Costa are the best that I have seen from there in many years. I sure hope they come back to Guat. We had a great time just not many fish. We’ll still be back next year…

Just got back from Quepos and Casa Carolina myself. Fished on Feb 8 on the Frenzy and on Feb 10th on the Caribsea(because we took our wives and had 8 people).
. Released 9 sails out of fourteen hooked on the 8th and also boated 3 big mahi. The mahi had to be big to eat the 14 to 18 inch live bonita we were fishing with. On the 10th we only caught 7 sails cause we spent 2 hrs fighting and landing a 250 lb yellowfin. That was a thrill and man did we eat good. The only thing that pis… me off was that the mate told me that the ocean was always calm this time fo year. We were there for a week and every day the ocean was flat. It sure was’nt like the North Atlantic. BTW the mate, named Marcos, was one of the best fisherman I have ever seen. I have video of tuna and the rest and will try to figure out how to post. Costa Rica is great, and the whole experiance of the house and the Frenzy which are both owned by a South Carolinian, was unforgetable.
