Couple of weeks ago I sprayed it all out and filled it with fresh. This past weekened it smelt a little rancid. Just wandering what other boaters did to keep theirs clean.
Fill it almost full with water the pour in a gal. of outdoor clorox and let it set for a few days, pump it out and fill with fresh water and add 1/4 cup of clorox and leave it that way when you refill use the 1/4 cup clorox you should have no more problems! Are you using well water or city water? City water has clorene in it and you might cut back on the clorox mix.My boat has a 40 gal tank and i flii it with well water and 1/2 cup clorox and use it to shower and cook and make coffie no problemns
Put a quart of chlorine bleach (common bleach from the grocery store, but not scented) into the tank, fill it with clean water, run water out of the shower and any other outlets until you smell chlorine, then top the tank off and let it sit for a day. Run more water out of the shower, then drain the tank completely. Refill it with clean water, empty, and repeat until there is no more chlorine smell.
To keep it clean and sweet, use only a drinking water safe (usually white) hose that’s never used for anything else and make sure you’re using water that’s clean and drinkable to fill the tank.
