Freshwater to Saltwater- Boat Ramps

Heres my issue. I own a painted steel trailer but looking to do some saltwater fishing here soon. Im looking for a freshwater boat ramp here in Charleston where I can launch my boat and drive to the salt in search of spot tails(until i can find a galvanized trailer to purchase). Ive heard horror stories of steel trailers rusting even when rinsed/dunked back in freshwater. Anyone have good locations I can do this or recommeded areas to find these fish? I moved here recently w/ the Air Force and any help is appreciated.

launch at the oakbrook ramp on the ashley or at cypress gardens on the cooper. both fresh and run downriver to the salt.

Bad Habit is correct. Cypress Gardens is probably your best bet. Once you get to the end of the creek that ends at the river, you can find reds and flounder just a few bends downriver near the power lines and, of course, farther down towards Bushy Park as well. The fringe benefit is that there are some really nice sized freshwater bass in the same area that will generally hit the same lures as the saltwater species you are targeting. In a bass tournament a few years ago we marked a large school of fish that looked a little large for bass. We fished the school and discovered that it was a school of 2-3 lb. freshwater bass mixed with a large school of much larger spottails. We were catching 2 spottails for every freshwater bass we landed and were actually upset about having to spend so much time fighting the larger spottails to get to the bass we were targeting for the tournament. Up until then, I never thought catching a spottail would be bothersome! And, up until then I didn’t think that they would be that far up. It was a very nice suprise.
