Put in at the dam and picked up up reel karma, kicknfish and trevbennett and met up with genehunter and crew. Thinking about where to fish when we heard from steelytom who had put a couple in the box at the towers, so we headed over there and only picked up a short before taking off just before dark to get anchored up and get the lights out.
Anchored in about 43’ on the Jakes side. Bait started gathering shortly after puting the lights out, but it might have been an hour or so before they were really thick and worked their way up to surface. We were able to catch plenty in the net, but just threw it a couple of times for fun and used a sabiki rig to catch what we needed.
Started off really slow, but had some spurts of action later on and managed 7 keepers, about 5 shorts and a nice cat. Called it quits about 1am.
Had a great time. Wind was blowing prety good, but otherwise an absolutely beautiful night to be on the water.
Yea that wind was making things a little difficult. Back in the cove where i live up by dreher you couldn’t tell it was blowing. Once i hit the gap to head down to bomb it was a big difference.
We ended up with 3 keepers from the towers (21",21",30") and picked up a 26"er out from the beach. My pump/hydroglow/led battery is about done. Only had 8V when we got home. Didn’t have enough juice to pull bait to the light. Wind was bad. Was my first real test using spotlock and it held pretty good. Occasional gust would spin us but not bad considering the wind.
That was pretty impressive the way that spot lock held you right there with that big heavy boat and the wind blowin like it was. Kinda pissed me off actually. I knew you had caught that 30"'er right there and I was waiting for the wind to blow you away so I could slip in there.
Just finished up my honey do’s…gonna go try and get one from the kayak in the Saluda this evening.
Had a great Tim! My first time ever as far as night fishing. Learned a lot. Setting up the boat, anchoring, lights, reading FF and of course checking batteries before heading out. Lol. Quite impressive to see all that bait under the boat!! and then catching all them fishes. Thanks again, I own you this one!!

Man you guys are making me jealous. I guess playing music every weekend Im off is messing with my fishing. I did catch a about a 40lb stringer of bream out of the pond Friday morning though found them on a huge bed in about 2 feet of water. Hundreds of them we caught about 60 all bull bream.
I know you cant tell from the pic but this is about a 10 acre pond I saw several large beds like the one these brim were caught off of and if anything it is over populated with these shellcracker-crappie hybrids. And they will not go to waste Big fish fry planned for the family on Fathers day. I normally practice catch and release on most of the bass I catch out of this pond including an 8 and 11 pounder last year!

And where is this pond? - lol
IMHO- Ponds need a good brim thinning every now and then. Brim are prolific breeders and it doesn’t take long before you have a small pond chock full of stunted 4 inch fish.
