Got a call from Edisto Caleb (son) at 2:00 wanting to try some inshore fishing, and I told him he was an idiot for wanting to go out in the present weather conditions. 20-25 WNW and 2 inches of rain is not exactly ideal. Creek fishing was out of the question because of nasty water from the rain. We found 1 flat out of the wind and caught several reds to 28". The reds have been very cooperative as long as the water has the right clarity. We bumped several schools, and hookups were immediate. They are still eating like it is early December. As long as the water temps. are dropping, they will continue to eat most anything presented correctly in front of them. Fish were caught on 3" Savage shrimp and 5" Gulp! jerk shads on 1/8 oz. flutter hooks. It was very difficult to keep the baits in the water due to the high winds, but they stayed in the same areas long enough for multiple casts.
Way to overcome some tough conditions to make it happen. Was just looking at the weather and thinking it not worth the effort with similar conditions here on Sunday but I might have to give it a try.
