Went out this morning before work and headed straight to where they were schooling earlier in the week, but it was dead. I was really hoping to get one on the fly rod, but even if I found them I don’t think I could have cast it in that stiff breeze that was blowing.
I did at least get some action from a gar that hit a topwater plug in the back of a creek. But other than that, it was pretty much just a nice boat ride for about an 1 1/2 hrs.
I got back to the dock about 8 and found this guy helping himself to some of David’s bait while he was up backing the truck in. I guess even the birds don’t bother catching their own herring these days.
