Too bad the flood gates opening messed up our fishing:smiley:
That net handle is extended to 3.5 feet; so that should give y’all an idea of the size of the mules! We fished downrods at 60 feet all within 10 feet of the bottom. Biggest fish was around 15#. We had 5 between 28 and 33 in inches and several 25 inchers with shoulders. The 25 inch hybrid was a real pig! We caught a few more after the pic was taken… Only bad news was my I-Pilot crapping out. Good news is it’s still under warranty… Not the biggest the Hill has to offer, but a great day of fishing with my buddy Gary!
Man, those are some good looking fish as much as i have striper fished i have never been there hoping to go soon . I guess it is the unknown that has kept me away so far.
It’s a great lake! The fish do not behave like Murray fish, and, as Ricky Dubose pointed out at our Tuesday MSC meeting, it can be a tough lake to learn to fish. However, put in the time and money, and you can slay some slobs! It’s worth it for everyone who loves striper fishing to give it a try. We enjoy it even when we go over there and wear a butt-whippin’
Good looking catch Frogman ! I used to fish the hill several years ago and always loved it and had really good catches. I checked and it is almost 100 miles from the upstate where I live to the dam , now I remember why I stopped fishing there.
Two hours of driving and 8 hours fishing then 2 hours of driving would make a long day but maybe I will get down there soon . I always had good luck there .
Were you close to the dam or midlake , if I might ask - oh and live bait of what kind , and drifting or still , in the creeks etc., ahhh just invite me along
We fished from Ga. Little River to the Thurmond Dam. We fished herring spotlocked in 60 feet a couple cranks off. Had to use the anchor when the I-pilot quit. …Yep. It does make for a long day, not to mention the fuel costs. Otherwise, I’d go over there more often.
Btw, Fishingpox you are certainly welcome to join us over at the Hill sometime. Not sure when I’ll get back over there due to going to Florida next week. However, with our MSC Tournament coming up August 17, I’ll make 3-4 trips over there between now and then. I’ll keep you posted. Cant always promise a boat-load of slobs but will promise 100% effort.
Appreciate it. I won’t be fishing much down there except for maybe hitting a pier for a little while. We’re spending a few days in Lake Mary with the wife’s aunt and uncle before the Mrs. heads off to a teacher conference in downtown Orlando. We’ll be halfway between there and Daytona.
