Had a great day on the water today…temp when we pulled out of the driveway was 36…and Donnie nor Roo looked real enthused to be leaving so early…but they humored me and didnt complain. Water temp was 56-58 and it wasnt hard to find bait. Still plenty of small shrimp in the creeks as well as mullet…mullet seem to be hanging a little deeper now. Water was slick as glass but not very clean in the creeks. Brought along a bucket of fiddlers…thanks Haddrell for hooking us up…
Little bantering going on so we decided to have a “in boat tourney”…and I have to admit…Donnie beat me. Trout bite was awesome today///little slow at first and while we had been catching them last of out going and first of incoming…today was a total chang eup …fish caught 3-4 hours into high tide. Donnie was tossing grubs mostly…I fished live shrimp under a cork…DEEP. Tide was hauling butt today…extra split shot was a must. Fished some docks and fallen trees and caught a few sheeps which was a blast/ all released…some left with full bellys:imp:
final score card below… Donnie beat me…I tried to cheat and count the mullet i caught…but he wasnt having that.
Kept four 16-17 inche trout for dinner…had a man and his dad asking us if we"d caught anything as they fished from the landing…so offered up a couple of our fish…which they gladly excepted. Nice fellas…offered us some of their snacks in return. thats the cool thing about fishing…you can meet a lot of really nice folks.
back home at 430…breakfast and coffee for dinner. working 12hrs tommorow night…but going to go use the rest of these fiddlers up in the morning…going to let donnie and Roo sleep in a little though…
we will leave at 7:wink:
as usual…heres some pics
I just love the marsh and its many colors.,and look closely…even mother ocean can blow bubbles
Thanks for the call Pen, I will be out there tomorrow in the am, got someone that wants to join in for some sheeps action, I hope the Reds want the fiddlers also

Wow Fritz! Im going to copy and show this to donnie!! haha thank you sir!
you guys are a mess…and i feel very safe…lol
another great day today…not as many fish but steady bite all day…funny how fast we get spoiled… 15 fish is a great day and 15 inchers are huuuuugeee… until you have days of big numbers and fish…then you get spoiled real quick like. getting ready to post yesterdays trip…another boring post to some …but the pics are ok sometimes
Simon…gave the shrimp and fiddlers to a couple fishing from their dock and two guys who were heading out…they were happy for it.
for those wondering…i told simon that I couldnt get to the sheepshead today because of the reds! now im not complaining about catching those…but for the price of those fiddlers and the way they were sucking them down…wooo wee!
Donnie even caught a 20 inch trout on one!
