Cranked up the truck and hoped that donnie wouldnt see the 32 degree temp it was registering:yawning_face:…but he did and he didnt seem too impressed even when I told him I had made a big thermos of coffee and some porkchop sandwichs for him. Even Roo didnt look too excited about going and quickly curled up in a knot on the back seat.
Get to the limehouse ramp and theres frost on the ground, steam rising from the water and only two other cars there. Cool I say!!..we"re getting a good early start! “No” donnie says…“the others are just a whole lot smarter and are still home in their warm beds”
(looks like its going to take a while for this day to “warm up” in more ways than one I say to myself.)
Went to my "go to" bait spots only to find the bait had "gone to" somewhere else. Managed to catch a few that werent much bigger than what I call "hoppers"...
…you know how people like to put there shrimp up to a beer can to show size???..ahmm…well thats a split shot in the pic[:I]
Trout didnt seem to mind though…and we still caught double digits each with a few nice reds too. they werent humongous…but man those little reds can pack a hard punch! And have you ever noticed they know right where the oyster mounds and obstacles are?!
Trout were sluggish today compared to last week. Water temp in low 50’s where we fished…trout would bump.let go …we’d drop back…and theyd hit it again. 12-18" trouts caught. Darker grubs seemed to be better today…dark green and black with metal flakes…dark red with black paddle tail…and the small shrimp under corks. Suprisingly not many takers on the bottom like
