Went out friday at high tide for a little sheepshead action (with clam strips bc no one had fiddlers).
After positioning ourselves in the “lucky spot” and getting totally skunked for an hour, it proceeded to absolutely dump on us. We abandoned that spot and tried a flounder spot.
I was showing my buddy how I like to cast for flounder. Literally, the first cast (I was demonstrating for him), BAM 17 inch flounder! Picked up a 14 inch trout 10 minutes later then nada. Released him but kept the flat fish:)
Moving to “one more spot” for 15 min before I had to be back home, I also threw a mud minnow at by favorite piling under a dock to demonstrate for my bud where to cast and BAM-- 14 inch trout! He managed an 18 inch FAT redfish 5 min later while I got 2 more short trout. It wrapped him around a dock piling, but he managed to work it free when we de-anchored and moved the boat up to a better angle.
All in all, it was a great day with an inshore slam despite the showers.
We hit a whiting spot the next morning with some leftover shrimp and managed 15 in about 2 hours, kept 10 nice ones (including a 15-16 inch) and had folks over for a fish fry.
Great weekend despite the questionable weather!
