Launched out of #4 Friday evening around 6:00. Went up to the river split and marked some bait and a few fish. Saw random top water all around so I gave it a try. Had 2 hits on boards and had to leave just after dark, bugs were so bad I kept breathing them in. Went home with the plan to get up and try morning. Slept in and decided late afternoon would work. Launched out of koon and went straight across towards Bear. I dropped off plane and the fish finder was light up. Surprised to see them in 98’ of water down so deep but there they were. Dropped lines and caught 6 small keepers in about an hour, all 21"-24". Fish vanished and I searched all over until dark. Fished around Siesta at dark. Had a lot of herring in the light but only one more short. Called it quits around 10. Beautiful weekend to be on the water.
I could have gotten one too that evening with a view from the side of I26 while I was stuck with a spun wheel bearing, but I just wasn’t in the mood for taking sunset pics at the time… LOL
I should also thank Rick K. I dropped down off of plane right as I approached Nadine Island. Didn’t see much top water action, but they were there. Probably should have just stayed there.
Not sure Rick, I need to sell the house and get a job. Just got the house on the market. I hope to be up there by Thanksgiving. I had planned a steelhead/salmon/brown trout trip to NY on Nov 22, but I doubt that will happen.
