Friday Oct3rd 1/2

*Shrimped Cow Pens this Friday Oct 3rd -1/2 Cooler. Real Slow

*High tide heading out 8:45. (Dark moon phase also 6ft tide) 75 deg h2o, slight - wind, stellar SC Day on the water.

*Water EXTREMELY clear and minimal current. Caught most at 3ft and slight wind at 2pm. They would jump out when threw bait ball a few feet in the air, but not if it was placed in the water. I swear the little buggers can see you throw the when it is sunny and clear water.

*Shrimp were very slow moving in cooler and in boat when caught?.strange. (They were flipping in and out the boat 2 weeks ago-2 limits in 2 days and gave away 1/3rd cooler to friends next to us, then 78-80 degree water, the shrimp were molting at that time.) I was afraid to post due to being kicked out of the shimpileaks club.

*The shrimp legs were really really red this trip and their shells harder.

*This is a weird un-calculable season…Can?t pin anything down with history. Have they left or just not in? Talked to a older friend of ours said he caught the biggest shrimp of his life on days so cold and windy you couldn?t move your hands, waves splashing in the boat, again this was years ago.

*Launched at MCLV not too bad got last spot at 8am. Husband had to tie string to my foot due to No see-ums bugs toting my AXX off at the landing. I swear these bugs are in attack mode at the end of the day…I am the crazy blonde chic flailing her hands running like a mad women to the get trailer, a sight for locals.

*Headed home early? only 1 day on the water - normally 2 days shrimping-Honey Hill closed, Buck hall closed…will be spending $14,140 per pound for shrimp next year. Husband wants new boat and I am getting my own net and NO sharing. Thinking of getting it monogramed with a big pink ?H? on it. This little addiction of shrimping is making one crazy, but I just love it. 32 quarts for the season and grateful.

Good report. Heading down from Columbia tomorrow for the area. Looks like a windy week coming up.
