I got away from work at about 4:00 Friday to check out a little spot off the harbor. I backed into the grass and started throwing a mud minnow on a cajun thunder. Saw my first black tip of the year and he almost bumped into the boat as he followed the grassline. Once the tide really pushed in, I saw a HUGE redfish tailing but he wouldn’t take anything. Threw the mudminnows, gulp crab, and gulp shrimp at him. Didn’t have a spoon with me as I wasn’t prepared for tailers. I ended up running into 3 more really big fish tailing and couldn’t get them to take. They weren’t spooking, they just weren’t interested in me. All fish were between 30-35" and needless to say, I have a new spot for the summer flood tides. No camera with me this time, but I’ll be sure to have it when I go again.
