Friday Trout

I fished the Folly area alone again on Friday and caught 54 trout, all on grubs (green and smoke flake). Most of them were boated in the last 1.5 hrs at a new spot where I’ve never done well before. Glad I checked it out! The spot I fished on Thurs didn’t produce as well Friday (some fish there, but just not “on fire”), so I went to another and was glad about it. They were taken in depths from 2 feet to about 12 feet (maybe a little deeper. I am guessing because there’s no depth finder on the boat right now). The deeper fish hit subtly on the bottom with a slow pattern. The shallow fish hit more aggressively on a medium-slow retrieve. Lots of keepers up to around 17". Some shorties were mixed in, but not too many. The weather was much better than Thursday. Very nice day, Friday. From the looks of the reports, other areas were turned on pretty well Friday, too.

Thanks for the report. Gonna go catch’em tomorrow.

Man Lee you are killing them lately.

Nice job! Thanks for the report!

Thank you, sirs. It’s definitely a good time to be out on the water right now. I imagine the landings are all pretty full today. Supposed to be in the 70’s and calm.

Did well on the Trout Friday as well - even had a few keepers (and a nice Flounder) for dinner.

Glad to see it warm up - will fish Monday afternoon again. Grubs are working well - trolling 5 lines (Chinese fire drill if I hit a school and they all go off at once).

Thanks, Captain Ross

Glad to hear that. Hope Monday is good for you. I was casting for them, but trolling can certainly be pretty fun and effective, too. Five lines seems like a hard manage, though, especially alone.

Ha! I can only run 3 or 4 with “help”

I’ve had 6 out, but that can turn into a mess quickly.
