Fridays forecast

So is the NW 10-20 fish able on Murray? I have a deep vee aluminum boat so it’s not real heavy for those kinda winds. If I stayed in the ballentine area would it be a little bit more protected from the wind? Yesterday they were predicting 5-10 and now this:angry:.

I have never been on Murray and it not be fishable. My boat is a light aluminum as well and have been on Murray in 20mph+ winds. It’s not comfortable but is fishable. There are plenty of creeks off of the main drag into ballentine that will be protected and hold fish…

Look at it this way, would u rather sit at home and wonder if the fish are biting or at least spend some time on the water.

It’s a little more wind forecast than we’d prefer, but I don’t think morning will be any issue. We fish a 17’ Ranger bass boat and plan on being in the Ballentine area because that’s where I think we will find the fish. Will be pulling planer boards and floats working humps, points, and shallows.

Well put murraymaker. Ill be on the lookout for your ranger and follow your lead. Haha just kidding put ill be in that area too.

If you are going to fish Ballentine tomorrow, there is a private ramp right in the back of Ballentine you may want to use. There’s a metal box at the ramp and you just drop $5 in there. The ramp is way back in the creek and well protected.

To get to it, just follow the directions to the Southern Patriot tour boat and the ramp is just past the enterance to the Soutern Patriot parking area.

If you are not getting them in the sheltered side don’t be afraid to go fish windblown points. I always do better fishing in the wind than trying to run from it.

We caught some nice fish in the 20 to 25 mph winds a few weeks ago around the big gap using cut bait. It took some time to get anchored but was worth the trouble.

Well the day was pretty much what I expected, windy early then really started to blow about 1000 when we bailed out. Found fish where I expected, especially on the windward side of the points, but productivity wasn’t quite what I hoped for. Just managed one short and two 24’s. Lost a couple others while occupied with the other fish. With water temps at 76, I think we’re ready to anchor at our favorite cuts and just downrod the next time we go.

Nice job pattianne. We chickened out and went to a coastal river and went cat fishing with the shad a had planned to take to Murray and happened to catch a 26in rockfish so it worked out.
