Fripp Island 5-23

Put in at the landing just before the Fripp bridge around 6:30am and turned out to sea to look for spanish schools. Slow, wet and large just like he weatherman said. Had a lot of fun climbing the seas and the Cat handled it without issue. Trolled around all over the place in 69 degree water (Never loosing sight of land) and did not find a single school. The days total was – SKUNK and

  1. Broke my VHF antenna (again)
  2. Dustin chummed the water (Poor guy)
  3. Lost the port engine again damnit
  4. Attacked by some sort of bee fly inshore?? What he hell?
  5. Got stuck on a sandbar for a moment
  6. took multiple waves over the boat and got soaked

Home by 2:30pm no fish but scratched the itch to go. Seas were BIG and sloppy. Actually took several waves right over the outboards and sides of boat. We laughed and enjoyed the day anyway and I got some great helm experience out of it and know the boat that much better.

Sounds crazy!
Of all the landings to go out from, I have to say i hate the Russ Point landing. Trying to negotiate the gap in front of Fripp island is borderline dangerous in rough seas.
Never been stuck on the sand-bar myself but have seen lots of others either stuck or running shallow. Glad you guys were able to get ungrounded and make it back.
